1/20/10 Locust Valley provides for second in back to back 2-1 victories. A season full of ups and downs has started to show promising signs that the Seahwawks can hang in tough in defensive battles while Will Beuerline allowed only 2 goals in two nights. Goals by Charlie Hildebrandt and Kevin Lohan provided all that was needed. LoVal made it interesting by scoring with 4 minutes remaining in the game, but CSH shut the door.

1/19/10 2-1 victory over Port a little to close for comfort. The Seahawks carried a 2-0 lead into the 3rd period on both goals by Gleeson Cox. PW was simply waiting for a CSH mistake as their goalie registered about 30 saves. They go t on back on a sky high pass that got behind the defense but the Seahawks managed to hang on by maintaining an agressive forecheck.

1/ 5/10 7-3 victory over Lynbrook could be costly for Seahawks. Lynbrook always provides a scare for two periods, but CSH outlasted and outscored. Eleanor Haines and Isabel Whiteley played up with the Varsity and provided a much needed depth while waiting for the return of Kevin Lohan and Dan Simonetti. The win could prove costly with the loss of Bryan Kelly to an ankle injury.

12/23/09 - Varsity finishes first half 3-6-1, but on a positive note. Though they lost 2-7 to Massapequa, the team’s system is showing positive signs; successful penalty kills and defensive zone coverage. The Seahawks look to the return of Kevin Lohan and possibly Dan Simonetti following a soft spot in the schedule.

12/ 9/09 - Varsity Seahawks fall to Wantagh/Seaford 2-11 Maybe the first game between these two was a fluke (3-3 tie). But this one was the real deal as CSH is forced to weather the storm in waiting for the return of suspended and injured players.

12/ 2/09 - Seahawks beat Lynbrook 5-2 for second win of the season. Still shorthanded, the Seahawks called up a few JV players and were able to win somewhat easily over Lynbrook in a game that might hold a few grudges. “It wasn’t pretty, but we’ll take it!” Captain Alex Hildebrandt had 4 assists for CSH.

12/ 1/09 - Seahawks cough one up to Bellmore-Merrick 4-7 After jumping out to a 3-0 first period lead, B/M scored 2 quick goals at the start of the 2nd to get right back into the game. Smelling blood and much the hungrier, Bellmore-Merrick outhustled CSH to the final buzzer. To their defense, CSH was severely shorthanded due to injuries and illness and suspension.

11/22/09 - Short Varsity squad crushed by Long Beach 0-8 Due to injuries and lacrosse conflicts the hockey team was forced to face top rated Long Beach with 9 skaters and a goalie. The Seahawks are now without Chris Moriarty and their top forward, Kevin Lohan. Both are out with fractures from other sports. The less said about this game, the better.

11/17/09 - First Varsity Loss is Sobering 0-6 The game was much closer than the score. CSH was only down 0-2 after two periods and by that time had hit a post and a crossbar, but both goals came on the power play and the Chiefs added another one early in the 3rd. Four of the six goals were power play goals. The Seahawks will have to learn either to stay out of the box or kill penalties better.
